Baked Tilapia

This Baked Tilapia is a simple, flavorful seafood dinner made with tender tilapia fillets, melted butter, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, capers, and a touch of paprika. It comes together quickly in the oven for an easy weeknight meal.

Ingredients

  • 4 tilapia fillets (6 ounces each)
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons capers, drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Lightly grease a baking dish large enough to hold the tilapia fillets in a single layer.
  2. Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels and arrange them in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, oregano, and paprika.
  4. Pour the butter and lemon mixture evenly over the tilapia fillets.
  5. Sprinkle the drained capers over and around the fish.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the tilapia flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  7. Spoon some of the lemon butter sauce from the baking dish over each fillet before serving.
  8. Serve immediately with your favorite vegetables, rice, potatoes, or a fresh salad.

Notes

  • Avoid overbaking the tilapia, as the fillets can become dry quickly.
  • Fresh lemon juice gives the best flavor, but bottled lemon juice can be used in a pinch.
  • For extra brightness, garnish with fresh parsley and lemon wedges before serving.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
